About Us

We're a Baltimore, MD-based custom web and mobile app development firm. Since 2005, we've been developing custom software for local startups and institutions, and we've established ourselves as a fixture in the Baltimore tech community. Back in 2008, before the App Store, we developed an iPhone app to help our clients understand "the cloud." OrderUp (acquired by Groupon), GiveCorps (acquired by Network for Good), and RedOwl Analytics are just a few of the 150 custom applications we've built for businesses and startups alike (acquired by Raytheon).

We offer mobile application development, web application development, product design and research, back-end development, DevOps configuration, API development, user testing, and mobile application builds as a custom software development agency. We have APIs in production that handle over 15 million requests per week, and apps in a dozen languages, including Chinese, Vietnamese, and Arabic; we build apps that scale g racefully, are stable, and are simple to maintain.

Using best-in-class languages, open-source libraries, and processes, such as Elixir / Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, React, and React Native, we build a lot of new applications from the ground up. Throughout each project, we use agile development processes and consistent communication to ensure that we and our clients are on the same page regarding priorities, budget, and timeline.

We create custom mobile and web-based business logic applications, such as the Baltimore Water Taxi's new digital ticketing system, Brookes Publishing's online Ages and Stages Questionnaire, and SpotCrime, a location-based crime aggregator. Many of our clients have been with us for several years, and some have been with us for over a decade; repeat customers account for more than 40% of our annual revenue.

We are proud of not only our high code and organisation standards, but also our ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. We work with a wide range of clients, each with their own set of technical skills. Some of our clients have no technical staff but require the development of an internal or external tool, in which case we act as their de-facto technical team; others have a strong engineering department but require a project or feature to be completed faster than they can manage in-house.
